Time Zone? (UTC/GMT -4) Dominican Republic is one hour ahead of EST in the Fall/Winter and is the same as EST in the Spring/Summer.
Drinking water? Not safe, as the water is not purified. Always drink bottled water (even though Casa de Campo filters water)!
Tipping? Tipping is not required and many of the services offered, such as food & beverages at a restaurant, include a service charge of 10% in the price of the items, or this charge is added onto your final bill. If you receive good service, tip cash directly to the provider.
